The increase follows a decline in June and is the second rise in three months. Producer prices rose 1.3% month-on-month in July, according to the International Monetary Fund.

At -17.8, it was above the -18.5 level from a year ago and well above the all-time low of -22.3 recorded in September 2022. The series began in January 1985 and has been negative since 2022. The all-time high was 1.9 in January 2001, according to Eurostat.

France Consumer Confidence Falls in August

France's business confidence rose to -3.6 in August from -6.1 in July. The reading was the highest since January, when the index was -1.3, and remains above the all-time low of -42.3 recorded in April 2020. It also stays well below the all-time high of 15.3 reached in June 2000. The index stood at -10.3 a year earlier, according to Eurostat.
