India's consumer price inflation rose to 4.44% in July 2026, up from 4.38% in June, according to the International Monetary Fund. This marks the ninth consecutive monthly increase, with the rate climbing steadily from 1.86% a year earlier. The latest reading remains well below the all-time high of 34.64% recorded in September 1974, and far above the record low of -11.29% seen in June 1976. The pace of acceleration has been consistent since February, when inflation stood at 3.21%.
