Ireland's consumer price inflation rose to 3.67% in August 2026, up from 3.39% in July, according to the International Monetary Fund. The August reading marks the highest level since March 2026, when the rate stood at 3.62%. Over the past year, inflation has accelerated from 1.97% in August 2025, more than doubling from that level. The current rate remains well below the all-time high of 24.15% recorded in May 1975 and far above the record low of -6.51% set in October 2009. The series, which began in February 1956, shows inflation has now exceeded 3% for five consecutive months through August. Separately, producer prices rose 3.9% month-on-month in July 2026, the latest available reading for that series, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Over the past year, it has ranged from 4.6% in November 2025 to 5.0% in several months, including five of the past eight. It remains well below the series high of 17.1% recorded in September 1985 and above the all-time low of 3.9% from April 2001, according to Eurostat.
