The 15-year mortgage rate rose to 6.26% in the week ending September 17, from 6.09% previously. This marks the fourth consecutive weekly increase and the highest level since January 16, 2025. The rate has climbed from 5.84% in late June and was 5.41% a year ago. It remains well below the all-time high of 8.89% in December 1994 but above the record low of 2.1% in August 2021, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
