The latest reading marks the third consecutive month of positive annual growth, following a 4.76% increase in April and a 5.79% gain in May. Prices had been negative as recently as February 2026, when they fell 2.39%. The current level remains well below the all-time high of 25.05% recorded in June 2022. Meanwhile, the country's inflation rate, as measured by the CPI, stood at 3.17% in July, according to the IMF.

Netherlands real GDP growth rose to 1.50% in the second quarter of 2026, from 1.43% in the previous quarter. This marks the third consecutive quarterly increase, with growth having bottomed at 1.32% in the third quarter of 2025 before climbing steadily. The latest reading remains well below the series high of 12.21% recorded in the second quarter of 2021, and above the all-time low of -8.83% from the second quarter of 2020. Compared with the same quarter a year earlier, growth slowed from 1.53% in the second quarter of 2025, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Foreign-exchange reserves (ex-gold) rose to $121.9 billion in August 2026 from $113.8 billion in July. The value remains below the all-time high of $137.9 billion reached in February 2026. Year over year, reserves are up from $97.5 billion in August 2025. The latest figure is the second-highest in the past six months, after the April reading of $126.7 billion, according to the International Monetary Fund.

The reading is the highest since July 2022 and marks the third consecutive monthly increase, with the index climbing from 1.6 in June. A year earlier, the index stood at -2.5. The index remains well below its all-time high of 9.7 in November 2021 but has recovered from the all-time low of -31.3 in April 2020, according to Eurostat.
